When people consider sending cargo to Pakistan from the UK, they prepare all the paper works and ensure the best packing of goods. They also follow the set regulations of the controlling bodies of both countries and regulatory bodies on both ports, in Pakistan and the UK. But this is not enough for them to deliver their cargo at their destination on time because there is something else to do as well. Yes! There are customs and regulatory duties as well, that are obligatory to pay on the time of arrival and clearance of cargo at receiving port.

What is Bonded Cargo?

When a shipment arrives at the port and customs department inspect the cargo, and found that it has yet not been paid for customs, or owner or receiver has failed to pay the customs and regulatory duties at the port, officials simply change the category of cargo to Bonded Cargo. The bonded cargo considered under the control of customs until the tax and duties have been fully paid.

In the case of delays in payments, customs shifted the cargo to their own facilities through the licensed transport or even these transport companies can hold that cargo in their own facilities till customs ask them to hold under the bonded cargo entitlement.

What is Bonded Transport?

The licensed cargo carriers that have their own facilities to carry and hold the bonded cargo. These transporters are licensed to carry shipments that are not paid for customs and taxes yet. These transporters simply move that cargo to the warehouses or the places serve as the bonded cargo facilities. There are several kind of warehouses and special facilities used to handle different kind of cargo on the international ports. These warehouses called bonded warehouses.

It depends on the type of bonded cargo, country or region where the cargo has been delivered. Various types of cargo warehouses are known as.

Temporary storage places

Temporary storage sites offer temporary warehousing for the bonded cargo that is subjected to documentation awaited category and entered the customs territory before the documents.

Other categories include type B custom warehouses, Type C, D and E Bonded Cargo warehouses to offer storage for different kind of cargo goods.  The government also offers free economic zone trading parks for handling these kinds of Bonded cargo for their trading partner countries.
