Britain Considers CPEC as a Game Changer for Pakistan

China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is an Economic Corridor comprising of various projects currently under construction. These projects comprise of railways, highways, optical fibers and pipelines. This will on one hand, facilitate the economy of Pakistan and prove to be a turning point and on the other hand it will save China of trade cost and time.

On Nov 26, 2016 British Foreign Secretary conveyed interest of United Kingdom to participate in the project while addressing the students at Lahore on his short visit to Pakistan.

He further said that UK wants to further strengthen ties with Pakistan. The trade ties are from the independence of Pakistan and from then the ties have grown stronger.

With the participation of UK in the development CPEC projects they believe that the trading process will be enhanced between the two countries. Due to the peace efforts of Pakistan the security and safety has increased that is giving way to the increased investments in the country.

UK Confirms Participation

On the visit of British High Commissioner to Pakistan on 7th January 2017, he confirmed UK’s participation in the CPEC projects. He said that it will be a great honor for the people of UK to Pakistan contribute in the process and the operation Zarb-e-Azb has improved the security condition in Pakistan.

UK’s Point of View

From the CPEC project the people of United Kingdom want that the trade path will prove to be a rebirth of trade caravans and revive of Silk Route to connect the East and West. One point was talked about again and again that the British Parliament agrees on the strong trading ties between the two countries.

The new democratic system commencing from the last two tenures has made the world realize that it will last and become stronger with the passage of time; the Army is playing its role in the peace of the region and making it a must that terrorism lessens and then diminish from the land.

Industrial Advancement:

The CPEC Project is believe to help the industrial advancement as raw materials will enter the country and exports and imports will increase. The new railway and road system will connect every part of Pakistan to Gwadar.

After Brexit there has been major advancement in the broadening of foreign policy in terms of trade. The main reason of leaving EU of Britain was to enhance the trading horizons with the rest of the world.
